Dude a Bespin reference! That's awesome shot and an even more awesome reference to the cloud planet.

The planet Bespin is a gas giant that is about 118,000 kilometres in diameter. Like most gas giants, it has a solid core made of metal followed by layers of metallic gases. Most of the layers of gas are poisonous, and the pressure and temperature are far above what a human could tolerate. But from approximately 150 to 180 kilometres down from space there is a habitable layer known as the Bespin Life Zone. This layer has an oxygen atmosphere with the temperature and pressure that makes it ideal for human life. It is in this layer that Cloud City is located.[3] Like most gas giants, Bespin has a number of moons. Bespin has a 12 hour day, and completes an orbit around its star about every 14 earth years (10220 Bespin days).

Hey Buzz,

Isn't that shot just AMAZING...I love it. And, I will be able to answer the WHO took it (tomorrow) b/c my friend's friend took it - I'll get her name.

However, we think based on the angles of the buildings that it had to have been taken from closer to Grouse, the fog is very deceptive though - I will get confirmation LOL...

We were trying to use google earth to align the buildings and the roads but it just wasn't jiving LOL.

By the way, according to my quick Google Earth zoom, the two peaks in the distance are on the U.S. side of the border. I believe the one on the right is Orcas Island, and the one on the left may be Stewart Mountain southeast of Bellingham, Washington.

Yes this is a shot I took up Cypress Bowl last weekend. The Vancouver Sun Photo is wider(Less Zoom). The original is 4.8 megs in size taken with a Canon 5D Mark II and the 28-200L Lens. There were plenty of cameras up their but I think I was the only 5D'r. I actually made 5 trips up their and I have sent Buzz more shots of the fog. You have to see these at 12x18 to appreciate the camera ! Thanks to Canon... Cheers Blair Kent

Okay, I know this is obsessive, but I made a video showing that they are two different photos, from two slightly different perspectives. The one Buzz originally posted is not this photo, but they are so close that I certainly can't say I prefer one over the other. Whether the first one was Scott Miller's, I don't know:

That was taken from MOUNT SEYMOUR. not up Cypress. If it was Cypress, there would have been all the mountains in the Mount Baker area in the shot. PLUS there wouldn't be all the distance betweeen the Empire Landmark, and Harbour Center Tower

If it was taken at Seymour the buildings would be in reverse. It was taken from Cypress, here's the photographer telling the story.

If the Vancouver Sun credited Scott Miller, but Blair Kent took the picture, shouldn't their be a correction notice? ( If indeed that was the picture )
Regardless, it's a great picture. I wish I took it! ( as opposed to having taken it ).
Makes a great screen saver though.

YA.... mmmm the credit for this pic is questionable..... I received this email on the 19th..... from my transport coord.... I posted it on FB right away... saying I didn't take it but had to post because it was totally STUNNING!! Shortly after a it was tagged... by Soderman... first name alludes me because I trusted your source as Scott Miller... so YES I removed the tag... but I'm thinking other wise.... hmm
