buzzbishop.com: The Cheapest Place to Park Near GM Place

  • Jeremy Latham · 1 year ago
I parked in the Yaletown public parking lot (Easypark I think) for $4 that same night. The only downside is that they close the gates at 11pm - so if you're going out after the game it's not a good option.

When I lived in Vancouver, my parking-place of choice for GM place events was the Vancouver Public Library. I seem to remember it being $5 or so - but this was a few years ago. Anyone know the scoop now?

@ I used to park in The Bay parking lot, or snag street parking along Richards near Georgia. Those are great spots too, but they're farther away and you have to deal with downtown traffic once you get to your car after the game.

The Keefer lot is against the popular flow of cars, and makes the dash to North Van dead easy.

If I ever get to go to a game (havent been in a couple years now) I would take a taxi or walk! lol Being in the WestEnd does have it advantages!

Call me a stickler, but I think you have a couple of (relatively unimportant) inaccuracies in this post.

First, you say that they have ramen soup. Ramen is Japanese. I think you're thinking of Chinese egg noodles, not ramen. Also, upon further inspection, siapao is Filipino. The Chinese version, which is sold at New Town, is "bao", which is a general term for bun. The "dai bao" or "big bun" at New Town is the best.

@MK I was just copying what they had on their menu.

    siopao and ramen.

it's right there on the wall

Great idea, I might park there if I can ever afford tickets to the Canucks again. I like the thought of Chinese before a game for a change.

Like Tyler I too usually park at the Library. It's fairly cheap, and now that there is a pub at the street level it's nice to stop for a beer or two before walking down, thereby avoiding the ridiculous beer prices in GM Place.

Another option I've done a couple of times is to park on the street half way between the stadium and Yaletown and then to go to the Yaletown Brewing Company for dinner. It's only a few blocks walk to the restaurant and they have a free shuttle to the stadium that drops you right at the door. Afterward it's a similar walk back to the car.

@buzz: Odd. Then again, I've seen Chingrish that's a lot worse than that. :)

Thanks for the tip! It's $3 when just the Canucks are playing.

Vancouver Public Library parking is now $20 for events. Not cheap anymore.

The Keefer/Columbia lot is now $15. They jacked up the price big time.
