The cyclists were in SA 2 weeks ago , incl. Michelle, Wife and Mom , Elise. PR lady , Olivier, camera man /driver and cyclists Robert from Kelowna and Francois from Quebec .
We broke bread with them and Eastside Mario's owner/manager treated them to their meal . Lion Monica arranged parking at the Mall for their vehicles. One family was able to show them real Shuswap hospitality at their home ...and what a view !!
I was so moved by their enthousiasm for improving the lives of people living with diabetes , that I signed up for the Disney World Team D. , Jan . 2009 .
My PROMISE to Daniel : continue to carry on Daniel's vision of improving the lives of people living with diabetes
The ASK : to all Canadians to support Daniel's vision by taking action to find a cure.
Nel .

Re: Team Diabetes: In Memory of Daniel Hurtubise

What a sad end... I saw the news coverage tonight, and was horrified at the response from the attending police officer, basically saying it was their fault, and they didn't have any permit (like that would have stopped the person who hit them) to ride on the road.

My heart goes out to the family.

Re: Team Diabetes: In Memory of Daniel Hurtubise

Thanks for sharing this Buzz. Tragic ending, particularly since it had nothing to do with the diabetes itself, but it was caused by an irresponsible driver. My thoughts and condolences go to the Hurtubise family. I will be Blogathoning 50% for a cancer cause and 50% for a diabetes cause (members of my family have succumbed to both diseases).
